Holiday Gifts Campaign

Each year, the Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF) in partnership with the RIFPA and RICORP sponsors a Holiday Gifts for Teens campaign. This program ensures that each teen in the Department's care receives a gift during the holiday season.

Traditionally, DCYF has been fortunate to have gifts for children ages birth through twelve donated through the Hasbro Giving Tree and the Providence Journal-Bulletin Santa Fund. However, the three thousand teenagers who reside in their own homes, foster homes, group homes and specialized residential treatment programs are dependent upon the Holiday Gifts for Teens Campaign to provide their holiday presents.

Last year, the response and generosity from the community were overwhelming and helped to make a difference in the lives of these adolescents. Because of the kindness of individuals, businesses, churches, schools and private organizations, the campaign was successful and every teenager in the Department's care was able to receive a gift similar to those of their peers during the holiday season.

This year, you can participate by purchasing gifts or by making a financial contribution. Gifts or financial contributions made payable to the Rhode Island Foster Parents Association (RIFPA) may be mailed to the Rhode Island Foster Parents Association,55 South Brow Street, East Providence, RI 02914.

For individuals or groups interested in "adopting" an adolescent group home to provide gifts for residents, we can provide you with a list of the teens' ages, interests and special requests.
